About Me

My name is Alex Acosta. I am an avionics technician in Addison Texas going to school at DeVry University to earn a degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Web Game Programming.

I served honorably for 6 years in the United States Air Force as active duty and roughly a year and a half as a reservist. I enlisted when I was 17, fresh out of high school. It was during my active duty service that I learned how to become an avionics technician and it was what helped mold me into the man I am today. When I separated I took that knowledge and have been building on it ever since.

The only problem I have now is that I realized that I can't turn wrenches all my life. I understand that a degree is the only way for me to live the life that I want to live without having to break my back before I get to really live it.

I chose to study web game programming because I have always been passionate about video games. I may not be able to remember it but my older brother always reminds that I used to hog our Nintendo when I was 2 years old. I see video games as not only as a way to be entertained in a medium that is like no other, but I know from personal experience that it can help educate. I am a huge fan of role playing games (RPG'S). In the earlier days of gaming everything was text based with zero voice acting. Every time I didn't know what a word meant I would pick up a dictionary and figure it out. I was constantly challenged with objectives that made me have to think logically to beat a level. All of these skills have helped me get to where I am today. I know that I may not ever create a single game that becomes recognized, but I know that this will be something I love doing and as long as we are doing something we love doing then it doesn't really feel like work at that point.
